What is Yoga?

Yoga is the oldest of the physical disciplines.  Its meaning is to "tie the strands of the mind together" or to 'unite". A further meaning of the word Yoga is "to attain what was previously unattainable". Through yoga you can deeply connect to your innermost self and rise above daily stresses.  Yoga can help you feel emotionally and spiritually centered. Yoga begins with breath and is a powerful healing force which guides and calms the body.

Yoga at Falls Church Pilates:

Falls Church Pilates offers students eclectic Yoga experiences from a variety of teaching backgrounds including Vinyasa Yoga and Hatha Practices: 

Vinyasa Yoga for all levels 

This class consists of fluid, guided sequences of postures linked together by a steady and mindful breath.  The postures aim to challenge a student's strength and flexibility, and to enhance awareness of body and mind.  Through careful sequencing and thoughtful pacing, each student can deepen the experience according to his or her individual level.  Students are encouraged to cultivate light-hearted curiosity, compassion and acceptance on the mat in hopes of taking these guiding principles into the "busy-ness" of living.
